  • 800g can Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 large Bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium Onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp (optional) Chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 50g / handful Feta and parsley, to finish

  4. Make 5-6 wells in the sauce with a spoon. Crack an egg into each well.

  6. Crumble over feta, scatter parsley, and serve with crusty bread.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know when shakshuka eggs are done?

The whites should be fully opaque and firm while the yolks still wobble. Poke gently with a spoon — if clear liquid runs, cover and cook 2 more minutes.

Can I make shakshuka without a cast iron pan?

Yes, any wide skillet with a lid works. Cast iron just holds heat well for serving straight to the table.
